Miramar College Aviation consumes 10% less energy comapred to average classrooms of its type, having an energy density of only 50-kBtu/ft2. This is all made possible through high efficiency rooftop packaged units, high efficiency fluorescent lamps and office space occupancy sensors. The major renovation is using post-consumer recycled building materials, reflective roofing surface and a new direct-digital controls system.
